Impromptu Fit Bloke Challenge

Today escalate quickly.

I had registered to do the Men’s Fitness Fit Bloke Challenge a while back but due to work commitments had to withdraw. I’m flying up to Brisbane tomorrow and had planned on training this morning and then checking out the first day of competition after.

However

As I was warming up to train one of my mates was leaving the gym for the competition. Many of the top competitors from around the country were set to throwdown whilst I sat in the stands…

The temptation was too much.

I asked if I could compete again (knowing it would just be for the one day) and was lucky enough to scrape in.

The results were definitely worth skipping training.

WOD 1
For time:
21-15-9
Pull ups
Overhead squat (40kg)
Time: 2:06
Miscounted the first set of OH squats and dropped the bar at rep 20, then had to re snatch it and go again. Cost a few seconds but still 4th overall

WOD 2
7min AMRAP
9 Burpee over the box jumps 30″
9 Thrusters (40kg)
Score: 99 reps
Went out pretty fast and probably cost me a few reps but still good enough for 8th overall.

Finished the day in 4th overall. Pretty stoked considering the level of competition was pretty full on. Wish I could have done the rest of the weekend but all in all a good pre regionals hit out!
